John Diamond – The Fishman
Drops into the village every few weeks and sells first-rate frozen fish. You name it – cod-loins, Scottish Salmon, squid, plaice, crevette, crab, haddock and more exotic things – he has them. Perfectly frozen, sweet tasting and way better than anything you will find in the local shops.
His new website will be appearing shortly (Summer 2017) – meanwhile just give him a ring or email him and ask him for what you need.

Welcome to Mullenscote Gundogs and Puppy and
Companion Dog Training Courses
Howard Kirby has been training dogs for more than twenty years, as the proprietor he divides his time between Mullenscote Dog Training Centre and Lains Shooting School.
Howard leads the team at Mullenscote and specialises in training and assisting handlers to get the best from their dogs. Howard and his Mullenscote Dog Training Team can be seen right across the country giving demonstrations and running clinics and seminars.
“Training a dog can be a fantastic experience, our job at Mullenscote is to ensure dog owners get professional advice that is personalised and relevant to their individual dog and circumstances,” says Howard.
Howard started training dogs after being given a black Labrador – he named her Margot as she seemed rather aloof like the character in The Good Life comedy series – at Christmas, 1987.
Adapting the popular saying: “A dog is for life, not just for Christmas”, Howard soon found that his Christmas dog became a way of life. He trained her using his own instincts and friends and family were impressed with what he achieved. He found himself training their dogs and in 1989 opened Lains Shooting School and Mullenscote Gun Dogs at Quarley.
Lains and Mullenscote are very much family businesses. Working alongside Howard are his father, mother, stepfather, brother, and sister-in-law, not to mention son Charlie.

Notes
Lying just on the western parish boundary of the village, Parsonage Down NNR is a working farm owned and managed by Natural England.
Main habitats: lowland grassland
For health and safety reasons, there is no access to the farm.
The site is notable for its abundant wildflowers with over 150 species being recorded, including salad burnet, dropwort, devil’s-bit scabious and knapweed. Orchids are also abundant with burnt tip, green-winged, frog, fragrant and pyramidal all being recorded on the site.
Anthills cover the old downland. Green woodpeckers feed on the anthills and they are the favoured site for plants such as thyme and rockrose.
The site also contains areas of scrub and these support birds such as yellowhammer and turtle dove, with lapwing and grey and red-legged partridge breeding on the downland.
As well as its wildlife interest the site includes two scheduled monuments and several other archaeological features.
The best time to visit the reserve is during the summer, for wildflowers and livestock

A guide for families on places to go and things to do with children in the Salisbury and Amesbury area.
Biography
A charity very close to the hearts on many in the village.
Rett UK is the only UK charity which provides professional support to people living with Rett syndrome across the UK.
Rett UK was founded in 1985 round a kitchen table by Yvonne Milne MBE. Since then we have grown to be the leading provider of information to not only families but also medical professionals new to the world of Rett syndrome.
Rett UK supports our families through a national helpline, including telephone, email and social media support, co-ordinate Rett specialist clinics in conjunction with the NHS, organise local support groups, as well as regional days and have a dedicated parental contact network. We also provide training for people who are supporting someone with Rett syndrome whether that is in a school, college, day centre, supported living, respite or residential setting.
We are a small team working on a national level. We receive NO government funding and rely entirely on donations and grants to fund our work.

A campaign to dual the A303 west of Stonehenge. Since the closure of the A344 past Stonehenge, traffic has increased on the A303, causing rat running through Shrewton and other local villages. This has endangered the lives of local people as drivers follow sat navs trying to avoid queues on the A303. The A303 needs to be dualled past Stonehenge and a by-pass for Winterbourne Stoke is much needed.

Conceived and handmade in Winterbourne Stoke by local potter, Sarah Holtby.
Based in Winterbourne Stoke, Sarah started her pottery four years ago. She has gone from strength to strength, holding workshops in conjunction with the BBC’s Hey Clay! initiative, producing an original trio of vases as a product for Horatio’s Garden for their Chelsea stand in 2015, exhibiting for the Wiltshire Art Trail, running pop-up potting classes in Salisbury Cathedral and displaying work in the First View Gallery at Stourhead. She is currently advising at Sarum College and is about to start running workshops in conjunction with the Sarum Museum in the Close, Salisbury. She sells at fairs and events around Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset. She is always thrilled to connect with interested venues, individuals and communities in and around this area and further afield.
This is a directory of businesses, organisations and locally relevant individuals that are either based in Winterbourne Stoke, or are of interest to villagers and visitors to the area. As a Parish Council, we believe in advertising the breadth of activities that go on in small, rural communities like our own; activities that have a diversity and global reach that might surprise many.
