Tilshead Borehole Levels: 17th March 2024

Mid-march and the water levels remain high despite having relatively little rain compared with earlier in the winter and last autumn.  There has been a slow but steady fall in the water levels in the Tilshead aquifer, but not enough as yet to warrant the Environment Agency lifting the groundwater Flood Warning for the village.  The graph shows we are 6 metres above the 10-year average and nearly 12 metres above the level we saw a few years ago when we had low winter rainfall and a late Spring.

Sunny spells and showers seems to be the most likely forecast for the coming week, with a drier weekend in prospect.  Beyond that, the wetter weather is going to return and shows no sign of changing to a prolonged dry spell until after the middle of April.
