Tilshead Borehole Levels: 23rd January 2022

A very dry week, but despite this, the water levels in the aquifer have continued to rise at a steady rate. It is a very good example of just how long it takes for water falling on the ground surface to soak its way through to the deeper levels of the aquifer.  The levels continue to parallel the 8-year “average” year, but continue to run about 5 metres down on a date-for-date basis.

Graph shows that water levels continue to rise and are 5m down on the 8-year average.

We are not expecting to see any more rain until we get towards the end of next week and even then, it will be minimal.  It is now expected to be fine, dry and cold for the rest of January.  That trend now seems likely to continue well into February.  Snow?  Not in this neck of the woods for the moment.
